Convia Pro vs Buffer
Buffer schedules posts you have already written. Convia writes them from your recording, publishes to eight platforms, and reports what each returned.
Facts about Buffer last checked 2026-09-20.
The short answer
Buffer is a publishing tool. Alongside scheduling it covers analytics, engagement, an AI assistant for polishing copy and a link-in-bio Start Page. What it starts from is content you have already written.
Convia is not a scheduler. It writes the posts and plans the campaign, then publishes them. The source can be a recording, your back catalogue, a set of tags, or nothing but a stated intent.
If your posts are already written, a scheduler is probably enough. If writing the posts is the part that is not happening, a scheduler does not solve your problem.

A note from AJ
I started on Buffer. For a long stretch it was the right tool, and I still think it is one of the best-run products in this category. The queue model is genuinely smart: you set your posting times once and then stop thinking about scheduling, which is exactly what you want when the hard part is consistency.
Two things eventually pushed me off it, and neither is Buffer's fault.
The first was arithmetic. Buffer prices per channel. When I was posting to two places that was trivial. By the time I was running eight, I was paying close to a hundred dollars a month for scheduling and nothing else, while still writing every post myself. The math stopped making sense for the shape of what I was doing.
The second mattered more. Buffer could tell me a post performed well. It could not tell me that the posts about a particular topic outperformed everything else, or that the thing I said in episode fourteen was worth saying again. It knew about posts. It did not know about my show. I wanted one place that understood the episode, the topic and the performance as connected things rather than as a queue of unrelated items.
That is the gap Convia was built to fill. If you are scheduling content you have already written, Buffer is a better fit and I would tell you so.

What Buffer does well
- It publishes reliably. Posts go out when they are supposed to, without anyone watching. That sounds like a low bar until you have used something that misses.
- It does not oversell. Buffer's own pages describe what the product does and what it costs, plainly. There is no confusion about what you are buying.
Where Convia goes further
| Buffer | Convia Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Writes the posts | No, you supply them | Yes, from a recording, your back catalogue, a set of tags, or a brief |
| Plans a campaign, not a queue | Posts flow into time slots | A time-bound campaign with an intent and a scheduling pattern |
| Publishing | Schedules to its supported networks | Publishes to eight platforms, in the formats each one supports |
| Connection to each platform | Through Buffer | Direct, one integration per platform |
| Pricing model | Per channel | Flat monthly, with a set number of connected accounts on each plan |
Where Buffer goes further
This section is why the rest of the page is worth believing.
| Buffer | Convia Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Simplicity | One job, done well: a queue and a calendar | A campaign system, which is more surface to learn |
| If you only want scheduling | Exactly what it is | You would be paying for planning and writing you are not using |
Who should choose what
Being clear about who should not buy this is more useful than another feature.
Choose Buffer if
- You already write your own posts and just need them scheduled
- You publish to three or fewer channels
- You need a network Convia does not support
- You do not want anything written for you
Choose Convia Pro if
- The bottleneck is writing the posts, not scheduling them
- You are publishing to five or more platforms and the per-channel math has stopped working
- You have a back catalogue of conversations nobody has posted about
- You want the campaign planned, not just the queue filled

Can I use Convia and Buffer together?
You can, though most people find they do not need to. If you run other content streams that are not conversation-based and you already have a Buffer queue you like, there is no conflict. Convia publishes directly to the platforms rather than routing through Buffer, so the two operate independently.
If you would rather have Convia hand finished posts to your existing Buffer queue, tell us and we will look at it.
