Platform capabilities, compared
Most tools in this category say they publish to social media. That phrase hides enormous variation: posting a link to Facebook and posting a LinkedIn document with a first comment and a resolved mention are not the same capability, and the gap between them is where most of the actual work lives.
This page lists what Convia does on each platform, what it does not, and where the platform itself makes something impossible for anyone. That third category is the most useful one, because it tells you which limits are ours and which are not.

Notes (12)
- 1.Carousel limits differ by platform. LinkedIn and Threads take up to 20 items, TikTok up to 35 photos, Instagram up to 10, X up to 4.
- 2.LinkedIn company pages and first comment on LinkedIn both run through the LinkedIn Community Management connection, which is the one path where LinkedIn permits them.
- 3.Instagram requires media. There is no text-only Instagram post to make.
- 4.Facebook has no organic carousel. Multi-image carousels on Pages are a paid-ads format.
- 5.X has no native article card. Links are posted in the text and X builds its own preview.
- 6.Bluesky shows multiple images as a grid rather than a swipeable carousel.
- 7.First comment is a paid-plan feature. Instagram, Facebook and Threads accounts connected before September 2026 may need to re-consent once so Convia can comment on your behalf.
- 8.Instagram video always publishes as a Reel. Instagram no longer offers a separate in-feed video format.
- b.Instagram and Facebook report reach, not impressions. Reach counts unique people; impressions count total deliveries. Different measurements, so they stay in separate columns and are never added together.
- c.X requires a paid X API plan on the customer's own account for post metrics to be readable.
- d.Audience groups reach and impressions for reading here only. Inside Convia they stay separate and are never added together, because unique people and total deliveries are different measurements.
Mentions and tagging
Tagging is two capabilities that people assume move together. Mention-write is whether a working, linked mention can be created at all. Lookup is whether the platform offers a way to search people or companies, which is what makes a type-a-name-and-pick-a-face picker possible.
You can have the first without the second. LinkedIn personal posts are exactly that case, and it is why this table is worth reading before you believe anyone’s tagging claims, including ours.
| Platform | Working mention | Tag picker | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| X | Yes | Yes | Plain text handles work, and a user search endpoint exists. |
| Bluesky | Yes | Yes | Structured mention records, and the best typeahead of any platform here. |
| Yes | Partial | Caption mentions work. Lookup only resolves business and creator accounts, so personal profiles cannot be found. | |
| LinkedIn company pages | Yes | Partial | Organisations can be looked up and tagged, including inside the first comment. People cannot be looked up at all. |
| LinkedIn personal profiles | Yes | No | The mention syntax works, and organisations can be resolved, but there is no sanctioned way to look up a person. You can tag someone if you already have their identifier. You cannot search for them. |
| Threads | Usually | No | Handles auto-link in practice, but this is not a documented publishing feature. Cross-user lookup is effectively unavailable to third parties. |
| TikTok | Best effort | No | Handles become links on the published post, but a notification is not guaranteed and there is no user lookup API at all. |
| Facebook Pages | Limited | Weak | You can mention another Page if you know its identifier. Tagging a person's profile is effectively unavailable. |
| YouTube | Not possible | n/a | A handle placed in a description through the API stays inert plain text. The working mention in the interface depends on a selection step the API cannot reproduce, and Community posts, where mentions mostly live, have no creation API. |
LinkedIn is where tagging matters most for B2B, and it is simultaneously the hardest platform to deliver it on. Its lookup resolves organisations, never people, so anyone claiming a full LinkedIn tag picker for personal profiles is describing something the platform does not currently offer.
This table describes what the platforms allow. What Convia supports on each one is not listed here yet, because it is not available on the plans on this site’s pricing page. We would rather leave the column out than describe something you cannot use.
What Convia does not do at all
- Host podcasts or publish RSS feeds
- Send email newsletters, though it writes them
- Record audio or video
- Edit audio or video
- Generate video clips
- Social listening or monitoring
- Inbox and comment management
- Approval workflows
How to use this page
If you are evaluating any tool in this category, the useful questions are not on a feature list. They are:
- Does it publish through its own integrations, or through an aggregator? Aggregator-backed tools are limited to whatever every platform supports in common, which rules out most of the depth above.
- Which platform-specific features does it actually support, and on which platforms?
- Which limitations are the tool’s, and which are the platform’s?
That third question is the one most vendors will not answer, because answering it requires having built the thing.
